Description

Horst Pelckman, attorney for the I.G. Farben director August von Knieriem, presents documents to the U.S.Military Tribunal at Nurnberg in behalf of his client, who is charged with war crimes. Knieriem, Chief Counsel for Farben and Chairman of the Legal and Patent Committees, is one of 24 officials of the vast Farben chemical empire indicted May 5, 1947 as war criminals. The prosecution charges that these were not merely patriotic businessmen who defended their country in time of war but that they schemed with Hitler in his acts of aggression, participated in the plunder of over-run countries, and deported thousands of foreign nationals to slave labor in Farben plants.
