Description

Max Ilgner, Chief of Farben's Berlin office directing intelligence, espionage, and propaganda activities, makes his final plea before the U.S. court at Nurnberg where he is on trial as a war criminal. He is one of 23 Farben officials indicted in May 1947 on war crimes charges arising out of Farben's alleged "partnership" in Hitler's aggressive war. Ilgner told the Tribunal that if his Norwegian friend felt so badly towards him, they would surely not care for his family as they are doing at the present time. Sitting at the table behind Ilgner are members of the prosecution. Photograph 11 June 1948
