Description
Dr. Horst Pelckmann (standing), counsel for I.G.Farben director August von Knieriem (in the witness box) discusses defense strategy with his client during a court intermission. The 24 Farben officials on trial at Nurnberg are charged with conspiring to commit aggressive warfare, plunder of factories in the over-run countries, use of slave labor in their factories, membership in the SS, and with conspiracy to commit crimes against peace, war crimes, and crimes against humanity. In addition to being a member of the managing body of Farben, Knieriem was chief counsel of Farben and chairman of the Legal and Patent committees. Photo taken 5 February 1948
