In the witness stand beneath charts of I.G. Farben's Merseburg plant is Heinrich Buetefisch former member and secretary of Farben's governing body, manager of Leuna plants, and production chief for gasoline at Moosbierbaum. In the I.G. Farben trial at Nurnberg, Buetefisch took the witness stand in his own defense to deny the accusations of the prosecution that charge him with war crimes.Among the war crimes acts the 24 Farben officials are accused is producing arms for the rearmament of Germany in violation of the Versailles treaty and exploiting the use of unlawfully imprisoned concentration camp slave labor.
