Description
At the Nurnberg war crimes proceedings, the U.S. court heard the final statements of 23 I.G. Farben officials indicted last May on war crimes charges. The prosecution asserted that with the help of big industrialists such as Farben, Hitler would have been powerless to rebuild Germany's armed might, which subjugated the European continent. The defendant Georg von Schnitzler, who was a member of Farben's Board of Directors, declared on the stand: "I never wanted to do anything wrong; I always did what I was able to defend before myself".
