Description
There will be no peace in the world until men learn to forgive one another, said Walter Duerrfeld to a U. S. war crimes court at Nurnberg. Duerrfeld, Director and Construction manager of I. G. Farben's Auschwitz plant and the Monowitz Concentration Camp, is one of 23 Farben officials accused of war crimes who made their final statements to the U.S. Tribunal before its adjournment to prepare judgement. The prosecution has charged these industrialists with entering a working alliance with Hitler to rebuild the German military machine for aggressive wars in return for such favors as foreign slave laborers and ownership of certain chemical factories in conquered countries.Photograph 11 June 1948
