Friedrich Jaehne on of 23 leaders of the I.G. Farben chemical combine on trial for war crimes charges at Nurnberg told the U.S. court in his final plea, "I have always faithfully served my people, my religion, and myself, and therefore ask the Tribunal to bring about my acquittal and return to me my honor taken away from me by the prosecution". The vast Farben chemical combine was charged in the U.S. government's case with entering a coalition with Hitler rebuild the German military machine for aggressive wars, a partnership whereby Farben profited not only through the sales of its products, but by the use of foreign workers as slave workers and the confiscation of foreign chemical firms.Photograph 11 June 1948
