Abstract
How does French tort law deal with environmental issues? Can it effectively do so, and how? Corporate social responsibility is one of tools developed by law in order to ensure environmental protection. Since its inception in the 70s, corporate social responsibility has undergone a transformation. From being purely voluntary, it has become mandatory. Several recent texts, including two European directives of 2022 and 2024, have imposed numerous obligations on companies in order to force them to develop a responsible and virtuous strategy, in other words, to anticipate and prevent the negative effects of their activities, particularly on the environment. This presentation highlights the reinforcement of corporate social responsibility and examines its effectiveness.
