Description
The trial of 23 Farben directors on war crimes counts neared 8(i)ts end today with the final statements of the defendants following the closing arguments for both the defense and the prosecution. At the podium Heinrich Gattineau, Chief of the Political-Economic Policy Departments of Farben's Berlin office, told the Tribunal (left) that he had nothing more to add to what his counsel had previously put before the court. The U.S. prosecution has charged the Farben directors with entering into Hitler's aggressive warfare by helping him build a war machine and of reaping the spoils of war by conscripting foreign nationals for slave labor and confiscating chemical firms.
