Description

A U.S. war crimes court at Nurnberg heard the final plea of Christian Schneider, one of 23 I.G. Farben leaders brought to trial in May 1947 on war crimes charges. Following final statements by the defendants, the Tribunal adjourned to weigh the evidence in which the U.S. prosecution had accused the defendants with the knowledge that the war machine that they had helped Hitler build would be used for aggressive wars. The defendants counteres that they only came to the aid of their country to protect it against aggressor states as would any loyal industrialist. Photograph 11 June 1948
